One of today’s #HCSco2020 Senior Spotlights is Natalee Clem, a senior at CSAS. After the school experienced a tragedy, Natalee felt her classmates needed a safe place to go when they were struggling with their emotions. With permission from the principal and librarian, she secured a space she could transform into a “calm room” for students to de-stress or spend a few minutes in quiet reflection. She conducted hours of research and met with community leaders to learn about mindfulness and various kinds of therapy including art and music therapy. Natalee collected donations from parents for the space and worked in the eLab to build shelves for the room. She did all of this while also serving as a member of the Student Government Association, Honor Society, and working a part-time job. Natalee planned to have an open house to showcase the room in March, but had to cancel due to COVID-19.

After graduation, Natalee plans to pursue a degree in interior architecture.
