Along with the usual resources, I will be adding Read Alouds and lesson ideas on this page.

Lesson 4: Overcoming Obstacles
As we are all learning how to learn and teach by distance, we are facing obstacles (things that get in the way).  These things that get in our way may be something we can't touch- like fear, or something we can touch like the door to our house.  There are two videos.  Thank you, Mr. Falker is about an obstacle you can't touch.  The Obstacle Course video shows obstacles that you can touch.  After you watch the videos, go to Flipgrid and post your video responses to these questions: What have been your obstacles to learning from home? What has been hard? And. . . Can you make your own obstacle course that you can beat?

Lesson 3: Mexican Traditions
After you read The Day of the Dead/El Dia de los Muertes and watch Ms. Harvey learn La Raspa (sometimes called the Mexican Hat Dance), post some of your traditions and yourself dancing on the Brown Academy Flipgrid.

Here is our 2nd Read Aloud inspired by the happenings in our world today.  Look below for the Parent Guide to the book.

The Breaking News Parent Discussion Guide
In library, we have discussed how one person can make a difference in someone's day just by doing one small thing to help them.  This book gives us some new ideas.  So your lesson is: What is something you can do for others?
Here is our first Read Aloud. Look below for the lesson.

From Author Kate Messner: OVER AND UNDER THE RAINFOREST, Kate’s book with illustrator Christopher Silas Neal doesn’t come out until August, but we got special permission to share an early read-aloud! After the story, check out this page with more information on the wildlife of Costa Rica, where Kate did most of the research for this book. Writing challenge: 3-5 Write a short article to teach people about your favorite rainforest animal! K-2 draw a picture of your favorite animal.

Missing Ms. Harvey and want a great Read Aloud?
