We are reviewing the Top #10 highlights of 2019-2020 as we wind down to the end of a very unusual but successful school year. The highlight at #1 is the resilience of the Hamilton County Schools Class of 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic brought challenges to our community in March, but none were more affected than our seniors in the Class of 2020. At the beginning of March, seniors were considering attire options for the prom, thinking about the last few months with friends, and making sure everyone in the family had an invitation to graduation. In a few short weeks, everything changed for the Class of 2020.

Hamilton County Schools is committed to celebrating and highlighting the Class of 2020 during this unprecedented situation. The Class of 2020 is a gifted group of students, and your determination and class have been inspirational! Thank you for being leaders and showing the community, state, and nation how #HCSLeads during moments of challenge.

For the safety of staff, seniors, and families, the district postponed our original plans for graduations. The decision was not an easy one, but the right thing to do. There are a lot of unknowns about our current situation, but we are committed to doing everything possible to provide the graduation experience for the Class of 2020. Plans are fluid but continue to evolve for a graduation ceremony during the last week of June. There is a backup plan for July, just in case. Seniors and their families should keep alert to changes in locations or graduation times on the Hamilton County Schools website. Important information for the Class of 2020

The district is regularly spotlighting seniors on our website and social media channels. Join us as we honor these special teens. If you would like to nominate a senior, please submit your nomination here.

We know that outstanding accomplishments are in store for the special seniors in the Class of 2020 because they have met the challenge and persevered. The Class of 2020 is definitely the Top Highlight of Hamilton County Schools for the 2019-2020 school year.

“Last year Hamilton County Schools was the fastest improving school district in the state of Tennessee, and you were leaders in achieving that goal,” wrote Superintendent Bryan Johnson in a message to seniors. “We are so proud of your hard work, and although this is a challenging situation, it does not take away from your accomplishments! You deserve to be celebrated! Be well and do good.”
